Parish Organizations
PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Pastoral Council is the primary board of parish members who advise the Pastor and the Pastoral Staff on matters affecting the parish. Consisting of fourteen to eighteen members, most members are elected by parishioners; four are appointed by the Pastor; and two (a junior and senior high school student) are elected by the youth of the parish. The Council generally meets once each month from September through June. The President of the Council is Debra Thrower, 443-857-4776, or bniya99@aol.com.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
Although the Church is the Family of God, the Body of Christ, it is also an organization that needs financial resources to operate activities and ministries. Members of the Finance Committee work with the Pastor to ensure that the parish has the resources to sustain its ministries and to maintain and upgrade its facilities. Knowledge of financial, business, and accounting practices is beneficial, but not necessary. The Chair of the Committee is Nancy Jordan Howard, 410-281-9393, or quadhwrd@netscape.net.
FACILITIES COMMITTEE
We are blessed with five buildings on our Edmondson Avenue campus, which are always in need of maintenance and care. Those who would serve on the Facilities Committee should be knowledgeable of buildings, building systems (plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, roofing), and building management. The committee works closely with the Pastor, the Facilities Supervisor, and the Archdiocese. Contact Joel Williams, 410-362-8664, or joel.williams@archbalt.org.
EVANGELIZATION
This is a group of spiritually inspired individuals, who sponsor various activities and share literature to spread the Good News, reaching out to the inactive Catholics, the unchurched, and the active Catholics in the Church. Meetings are generally held on the 2nd and the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The only skill required is to have a willingness to love and serve. The contact person is Mildred Longstreet, 410-215-1519, or mlongstreet@bcps.org.
THE LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary is built, first, on a profound faith in God, and, under God, on the devotion to Mary. Meeting days are generally on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. One must be a practicing Catholic, age 18 and above, to be a part of this ministry. They must have a desire to serve Jesus, through our Blessed Mother. The person to contact, if interested, is William Speaks, (443) 374-7186 or speaks777@yahoo.com.
TRANSPORTATION
This ministry provides transportation for parishioners to the 11:30 a.m. Mass (9:30 a.m. Mass in the summer) on the Church van. To assist in this ministry, you must be a licensed driver and able to drive a large van. For more information, call Joel Williams, 410-362-8664.
Health and Safety Ministry
The Health & Safety Committee advises the Pastor on the policies and practices needed to ensure the health, safety, and security of church members and guests. It oversees the provision of aid and comfort to parishioners who may become ill during church services. On occasion, it also may organize and provide for the safety needs of particular parish events. The Team consists of active or former members of law enforcement, military, or emergency medical services. Co-chairs are Lorrie Winder, 443-540-7770, or luluwinder@yahoo.com; and Bernice Horton-Gee, 410-298-3304, or bhgee63@gmail.com.
